FALL TEAMS LEAGUE POLICIES

πŸ“ FALL TEAMS PICKLEBALL LEAGUE

Β

TEAMS OF 3 | MIXED GENDER | FREE AGENTS WELCOME | FUN + COMPETITIVE DIVISIONS | 6 WEEKS

πŸ“… LEAGUE SCHEDULE & LOCATION

β€’ Season: 6 Saturdays, Sept. 19 – Oct. 24
β€’ Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
β€’ Location: LBCC Courts β€” Long Beach City College

πŸ‘₯ TEAM STRUCTURE

The Teams League is designed to be competitive, social and flexible.

β€’ 3 rostered players per team
β€’ Optional subs are allowed
β€’ Teams must be mixed gender β€” no team may have 3 players of the same gender
β€’ Unrated players are welcome β€” a DUPR rating is NOT required
β€’ Don't have a team? Free Agents are welcome and we'll work on matching players into teams.

πŸ“ 2 DIVISIONS: FUN & COMPETITIVE

The league will be divided into 2 divisions β€” FUN & COMPETITIVE β€” to create more balanced and enjoyable matchups.

β€’ All teams begin the season playing together.
β€’ Division placement will be determined after the first 2 weeks of play, based on team performance and overall level of competition.
β€’ Starting Week 3, teams will primarily compete within their division.

πŸ“Š DUPR RATINGS & TEAM CAPS

Rated AND unrated players are welcome.

For teams with DUPR-rated players, the following caps apply:

β€’ 3 DUPR-rated players β†’ combined DUPR max 10.50
β€’ 2 DUPR-rated players β†’ combined DUPR max 7.50

β€’ 1 DUPR-rated player β†’ Β max 4.0 (doubles)

🎯 RATINGS LOCK ON DAY 1

Teams must meet the applicable DUPR cap at the start of the league.

Once the season begins, subsequent DUPR changes do not affect the team's eligibility. If your rating changes between registration and Week 1, however, your team must still meet the applicable cap when the league begins.

⚧️ MIXED-GENDER & FEMALE PLAYER REQUIREMENT

The mixed-gender format is an important part of the Teams League.

β€’ A full 3-player lineup may not consist of 3 players of the same gender.
β€’ Female rostered player(s) on each team must play a combined minimum of 16 games during the 6-week season.

⭐ FAIR PLAY β€” EVERYONE PLAYS!

No benchwarmers and no stacking the lineup. Everyone contributes.

β€’ Each rostered player is expected to participate in at least 4 of the 6 weeks.
β€’ On a regular 6-game league day with all 3 teammates present, each player plays 4 games.
β€’ If a game day is shortened to 5 games, each player must play at least 2 games.
β€’ No individual player may exceed 28 games during the 6-week season.

πŸ” PLAYER ROTATION

When all 3 teammates are present, teams should rotate players evenly.

Suggested 6-game rotation:

β€’ A + B
β€’ A + C
β€’ B + C
β€’ A + B
β€’ A + C
β€’ B + C

That gives each player 4 games while the team plays 6.

πŸ”„ PLAYING SHORT-HANDED & USING SUBS

One of the benefits of the Teams format is flexibility. Missing one teammate does not automatically mean you need to find a replacement.

If 1 rostered player is missing:

β€’ The remaining 2 rostered players may play without a sub.
β€’ Those 2 players may be the same gender.
β€’ The team may also choose to bring 1 registered sub.

If 2 rostered players are missing:

β€’ The remaining rostered player may bring 1 or 2 registered subs.
β€’ If using 1 sub, the two players may be the same gender.
β€’ If using 2 subs and fielding a full 3-player lineup, the mixed-gender requirement must be preserved β€” all 3 players may not be the same gender.

All subs must:

β€’ Register separately β€” $15 per league day
β€’ Meet applicable league eligibility and rating requirements
β€’ Be submitted no later than the day before league play

The season-long Fair Play requirements, including individual game limits and the female-player game requirement, still apply.

πŸ€• INJURY POLICY

If a player is injured during league play:

β€’ The third rostered player or a registered sub may step in when available.
β€’ The team must continue to follow applicable Fair Play, rating and gender requirements.
β€’ If an injury prevents a rostered player from meeting season participation requirements, the team may use a compliant registered sub.

🌧 WEATHER & MAKE-UP POLICY

Pickleball and rain aren't exactly best friends.

β€’ We will attempt to reschedule canceled league days for up to 2 weeks after the scheduled season end date.
β€’ A league day is considered complete if teams have played at least 4 games.
β€’ A minimum of 4 completed league weeks is required for official standings.
β€’ If a canceled day cannot be rescheduled, players will receive a $15 account credit.
β€’ Credits may be used toward eligible LBBC classes, clinics, Mini Tourneys, etc.

🚨 FAIR PLAY VIOLATIONS

Fair Play rules exist to prevent lineup stacking and keep the league fair for everyone.

Violations may include:

β€’ Benching or underplaying a healthy rostered player
β€’ Exceeding individual game limits
β€’ Failing to meet the female-player participation requirement
β€’ Using an ineligible or unregistered sub
β€’ Violating applicable gender or DUPR requirements

First violation: Opposing team receives the affected win; play may continue.

Second violation: Opposing team receives the affected win and the violating team may be removed from official standings while continuing to play socially.

Third violation: Team may be disqualified from the league and affected games may be awarded to opponents.

πŸ’° REFUND & CREDIT POLICY

β€’ 100% refund if canceled 7+ days before the league starts
β€’ 50% refund OR 100% account credit if canceled within 7 days before the start
β€’ No refunds once the league begins, including injuries
β€’ League credits are valid for 3 months
