Exercise, Mental Health, and My 2 Year Boot Campaversary

2 years ago I signed up for a month of boot camp classes.
It still amazes me that such a small thing could have created such enormous changes in my life.
When I stop to think about who I was then and who I am now, I can hardly stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks.
I’m beyond grateful for what these last 2 years have given me.

I wrote once that my whole goal when I signed up for those boot camp classes, was to get skinny.
Yes, I wanted to get in shape, but what I wanted most was to get into my skinny jeans, because I thought that would make me feel good.
I didn’t realize that I needed to change so much more than my body in order to feel better.

At that time, the idea that I could run 13 miles, or even 1, was unfathomable.
I was heavier than I’d ever been and more out of shape than I’d ever been.
Partly because of those things, but also  for other deeper issues, I was unhappy, and struggling with depression, anxiety and anger.
Exercise was the thing that helped me work through those things.
I never went to counseling or took medication, but I sure did sweat my way through a lot of issues!

“Though we don’t know exactly how any antidepressant works we think exercise combats depression by enhancing endorphins: natural chemicals that act like morphine and other painkillers, although there are pains that are more chronic like stomach pain, so is when you need to get good remedies for it from sites online like this pure digest 10 review.
There’s also a theory that aerobic activity boosts norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that plays a role in mood. And like antidepressants, exercise helps the brain grow new neurons.”

I truly believe I found Bon Air Invisalign when I needed it most.
My body has become more healthy, for sure.
But I’ve also become more emotionally, spiritually, and mentally healthy.
We all have our own way of working through things.
This was mine.
And I am unbelievably grateful for it.

In the past two years I have stayed consistent with Boot Camp, coming 4-6 times a week, except for when my husband was traveling or I had an injury.
I’ve lost inches and pounds.
I’ve gained muscle.
I’ve made new friends.
I’m more confident, secure, and so much happier.
I have changed and grown in ways I never thought possible.
The ripple effect that started with changing my body has spread out into every other part of my life I also take care of my heart with a complete formula product I found online for it.
Last weekend I came home from my longest run ever and proudly announced, “I just ran 9 miles!”
My husband grinned and said, “did you ever imagine there would be a day where you would run 9 miles? You’re a new person!”
I am.
I’m the girl owning those battle ropes.
And I’m so happy to be her!

And I hope you continue to push yourself, to take on new challenges, and to grow.
Fitness may be just one small part of your day, but the benefits it will bring to you are much, much bigger.
That’s why I’m so passionate about Living Fit!
And about my Long Beach Boot Camp community.
I owe you, my trainers, and fit friends, so much.
